Art of Marketing You- Where it all starts- ACT

Tomorrow marks the Autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere.  Days get shorter and we begin to think about our new goals and desires as we finish up 2009.  Lovingly we usher out the most difficult year and we welcome hope and new desires.

Autumnal equinox

Autumnal Equinox is the time at which day = night.  Balance is created between.

I love to read astrology,  ask the Chien Tung (chinese fortune sticks), read the tarot cards, light my St. Joseph candle, ask my magic 8 ball, among other silly things.  It’s all usually just for fun, but I do think they are good reminders of what we should pay attention to whether by coincidence or via mysticism.  With this equinox, astrology (Mercury connecting with Saturn-Uranus opposition in Libra) will tell you this is a good time to weigh pros and cons before you make important decisions during this upcoming quarter.  It’s a great time, maybe no better than in the past year, to take a good inventory of ourselves, our goals, and focus on the future.

It’s a good time to start off this final quarter of the year with a bang!  It all starts with Abundance Core Thinking (ACT) not Lack Core Thinking.  Some like to also think of this as Assets versus Deficit Based Thinking.  Unfortunately our nervous system is wired to be more sensitive to the negative than the positive.  So it’s a natural tendancy to hook ourselves up with the nasty negative vibe. However our minds are strong and we can train ourselves through practice + habit to think and feel abundance first.  It all starts with choice.  Choose to think first with abundance.

The equinox provides an opportunity to get rid of the negativity.  The universe is abundant!  Get clear about what you want and commit to banishing negativity, gossip, complaining from your life.  You will begin to vibrate joy, optimism, abundance!  As this passion vibrates it attracts, like a magnet, more abundance.

This is also harvest time, which is a time of gratitude and abundance.  It’s an excellent time to take yourself to task.  What are you grateful for?  Can you make a list of 100 things?

What did you accomplish so far this year?  What is left on your list of goals?  Let’s get clear, set an intention and work towards our goal so that no New Years resolution need to be set.  Get out that paper and do a brain dump!

Today, take your bracelet, ring or watch and every time you catch yourself coming from a place of lack, switch hands or wrists on which you wear that item.  It will give yourself a reminder, to come from a place of creativity or rebound instead of react.  To come up with a solution to a negative comment or issue rather than reacting and adding to the negativity.

How does all this relate to marketing?  When we ACT (Abundant Core Think…yes, my new original term) we can change the way others perceive us, how we perceive ourselves and welcome in all sorts of goodness into our business and our work. Remember it takes 21 days to start a habit.  So practice this new Core Training and it will become a habit.  You’ll see more students, more galleries wanting to work with you, more creativity, more wealth, and most importantly, more joy.

  1. I’m a definate believer in the “Philosophy of Abundance”. The more of us there are making handmade jewellery ~ the more it will be seen around peoples necks, arms, wrists and fingers & the more people will want it.
So it’s fine to see other artisans, not as competitors but as fellow makers and soldiers in the war againsts BLAH blah adornments!

  2. WOW that was neat Nic. I’ve also been a fan of ‘there is enough room for all of us’ something I remarked to an Art Clay fan a while back (I am a PMC fan and it’s a long story)
So what resonated for me when I read this is a personal hypnosis of ‘drama = good art’ and ‘positive thinking = Pollyanna’ – it’s an 80’s thing.
Any way – I appreciate a great deal, the reminder that ultimately I get what I give and I particularly appreciate the concept of ‘vibrating joy’!
Love the new term, and as always value your insights!
