Compass Words 2011- The Magic is on the Paper

Maybe you made a New Years Resolution and thought it would stick this time.  It’s the 10th, and perhaps you’ve already experienced failure. Or maybe it’s actually working this time. What will you do to keep the momentum going throughout the year?

IStock_000014197405XSmallI’ve given up these silly traditions associated with failure and pixie dust. Instead I’ve come up with a way tool to help me focus on what I want in 2011. Would you like to actualize change this year too?

Here’s the link to my Renew, Reenergize, Recommit Planner for 2011. Remember “the magic is in the paper“. (click to read my ezine on how to actualize your goals for 2011)

Happy New Year! May you be blessed with good health, prosperity, joy, love and gobs of creativity!

Cheers,

Tonya

PS – fill out the planner, determine your compass words, and then post them here. You’ll get some support, accountability, and best of all you’ll be entered to win Barbara Becker Simon’s Metal Clay Beads book and a Linda Kaye-Moses’s Doming Plate. A $60+ value

  1. Hi Delia! Due to an issue with my finger and my ipad, I hit publish before it was ready! So it’s been reformatted, links installed and a pretty picture inserted.
Can’t wait to read your Compass Words! Here’s to much success and happiness in 2011!

  2. Release- all the negetive self talk
Relax- Don’t sweat the small stuff
Persevere- Try the things you were afraid of trying last year.
Thanks for giving us this great exercise.

  3. DETERMINATION-
    HARMONY
    ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Great way to start the new year….thanks Tonya!

  4. LOVE (everyone and everything-if All we need is Love, I must give it!)
CREATE (turn those sketches into reality)
    ORGANIZE (files and studio)
Thanks for the “push”, Tonya πŸ™‚

  5. Free, confident, fulfilled
free from my past, free from doubt and fear
confident in myself, my decisions, and my abilities
fulfilled- by becoming a stronger person, committed, successful in my endeavors, and finding joy in everyday chores and tasks.

  6. Thanks Tonya, I can appreciate that! Been there, done that . . . oh were everything a entry that could sometimes be deleted.
So these little pearls of wisdom are quite powerful. I found myself REALLY considering what I wanted, rather than randomly making yet another statement of intention (I don’t believe in resolutions either) . . . with no real thought to how. This is an excellent tool. Thanks so much!
    Embrace
    Create
    Finish

  7. Create
    Persevere
    Mindful
Thanks for this tool, Tonya. It’s a great way to set my goals for the year.

  8. MAKE/FIND – the time to create instead of making excuses, too tired. Worked 10 hours on my day job…
OVERCOME – the fear of taking photos and acutally uploading those photos to my Etsy shop that I have had since June 2009!
FINISH – finish all my projects. I love creating with metal clay but turning those creations into FINISHED earings, necklaces and rings is something I procrastinate about. I have literally 100’s of unfinished creations.
Thanks, Tonya for making me do this!

  9. Bravo! Bravo! to everyone who put some skin in the game today and used the planner to find their Compass Words. I couldn’t be more excited about the changes you all are going to make this year. Last year was a year of suffering for so many (health, finances, work, etc). I feel and whole-heartedly believe that this year is going to be huge year of change for the world and especially for women.
I’m here to support everyone and appreciate your willingness to step forward, share, and believe in your own change and the value of creating “the magic on paper”.
    Cheers,
    -Tonya

This is a wonderful process and by far the most discerning! Good job Tonya for providing this great tool!

  11. I wasn’t sure that I had found my compass words because I wasn’t sure they encompassed
everything I hoped to accomplish. But when I saw them written down there was an internal sigh of relief, a lightness of mind and a sense that I could use these words as a beacon to keep me motivated and on track. Thanks!

  14. This is a great exercise, Tonya! Thanks for giving us the guidance in this most important task of taking stock and setting new goals for the year.
    My Compass Words:
IMPLEMENT: I am feeling clear about what I need to do to succeed and achieve the goals I’ve set for myself. Now that I’ve found clarity on this front, it’s time to IMPLEMENT, to take action and stick to my plan.
VALUE: This is both reminder word, and action item. To value myself, my friends & family, my job, my work.
DISCIPLINE: A corollary to implement. It’s the sticking-to-the-plan part.
    Thanks again, Tonya!
    DISCIPLINE

  15. What a phenomenal way to begin a new chapter/phase/year/etc! No matter what stage you are beginning, this exercise fits any situation. A simplified version will carry you through any new stage – from sketching and projects, to new stages in life. I love it – THANK YOU!!
    My Compass Actions (Words):
    ~ Organize (Everything…My life!)
~ Strength (Meeting new challenges/goals, doing what I have to do – even when I don’t want to – no procrastinating or just not doing it, physical strength – including a quick recovery from major surgery next month, to be the best *I* can possibly be – not compared to anyone but myself)
~ Patince (For myself & others)
I wish you nothing but the best in 2011 – you deserve it! xx

  16. Thank you for this thought provoking process. It is already working! Here are my words.
LIGHTEN UP as in fewer calories, less stuff, fewer unfinished projects, make pieces that incorporate humor
    NURTURE myself, others, creativity
FOCUS on the important stuff and the good stuff and do on thing at a time

  17. Hi . . .this was interesting. My 3 words are Socialize, instigate, and marinate.
    TYVM. DEB

  18. My 2011 Compass words:
Initiate (stop procrastinating and/or waiting for others to act first; dive in)
Persevere (overcome inertia; don’t give up)
Excel (do and be the best that I can; give 100%; kick butt)
    I feel empowered. Thanks Tonya

  19. The timing of your planner exercise was perfect. It helped me to put more focus into what is really important to me. I had some ideas, but still felt scattered. Here are my compass words, I also have 4.
Gratitude-Because everything in life (people, things, experiences)are a gift. For all the blessings and abundance in my life. For my relationship with God.
Believe- In myself, others, that everyone deserves happiness and abundance in whatever that means to them.
Faith- In God, in my ability to accomplish all things, in others.
Simplify- Unnecessary “things”, stay focused (don’t clutter my mind with junk), relationships (honesty).
Thanks for this and all the information you share with us all.

  20. Hi Tonya, I did this exercise the day you sent it and have shared it with two of my best friends. I also had 4 words.
Education: I teach PMC courses in Vancouver Canada, and my other business is as a Certified Immigration Consultant where I teach Immigration workshops to International Students (left and right brain are happy). I also want to learn new skills for myself this year.
Strength: Mostly physical, but mentally to keep the two businesses going.
Synthesis: Both my businesses have many arms, and I need to bring aspects of the businesses together.
Creative:In business, in art, in spirit.

Thanks for this exercise, great putting this on paper, I feel I can accomplish these goals in 2011.

    Liz
